Driving Or Die
(This article has been published in the newspaper Ultima Hora, Palma de Mallorca, THE VOICE OF ALMER? A, Journal of Tarragona and a dozen other Spanish newspapers)
The television regulars, I know, tend to have high-end cars and, of course, like to run on the road. Therefore, we have the sweatband Spanked until the Government has removed the speed limit to 110 kilometers per hour.
Well, look: the first weekend without this limitation has brought a marked increase in traffic casualties.
My personal observation, probably wrong, is this: by reducing the top speed to 110, a large proportion of drivers, fearful of the appropriate sanction, did not exceed 100 kilometers per hour, to rise to 120 now, automatically and unconsciously have lead to 130. Conclusion: more dead.
That, I say, it's just a personal impression. What is objective, however, is that we have a Government without discretion, that develops standards and change them to blow electoral opportunism and convenience. You tell me. If the reasons given for economy, safety and speed limit were correct, why change back? And if it were, why did we then communicate with treadmills?
It is too early yet to draw conclusions from the new legislative sarabande. The only certainty is that govern eye and no convictions of any kind usually involves contradictions, errors and confusion rules, whether the consumption of energy, banking law or rules of traffic.
Oh, by the way: I think to continue driving below 110. As is the courtyard, the savings do not know I suppose. Also, I discovered that I have no rush, total, to get where we are coming ...
