Outside Sales Jobs Sales Door to Door
The type of jobs outside sales which I refer are those where you walk business to market your company's products and services. These jobs would include security systems sales, cleaning services, printing services, equipment hire, fire extinguishers, office supplies and office furniture.
Let me begin by saying that there are many sales agents in this field who make a decent living selling these things, but most do not do much. There is no turnover in this industry for a reason. So here is what appears to be a representative of the external door to door to get an idea before you go deeper into this field.
First, this type of door to door used to be very common. It was very common to have a salesman knocking on your door to your house or apartment to sell everything from kitchen knives to magazines. And again committed in those days made a living from such activities. Clearly, this is no longer the case.
Today, this sale has almost disappeared. In addition to the Girl Scout, or often a kind of fundraiser for a charity or summer camp, people do not go around selling door to door anymore. But even so, there is some door to door that still exist, especially in the retail sector.
Most companies and businesses have signs outside their buildings, they say, 'no solicitation', ie 'no door to door sellers allowed.' Can remove many sales people, but there are still sellers who enter and effectively sell their wares.
But as you can imagine, this type of sale is still very difficult, so the high rates of turnover jobs outside sales. Besides the rejection very often, there's also a lot of walking involved and a lot of having to talk to strangers, and that can be very draining for most people.
I did two days of training for a job outside sales with a marketing office supplies, when I was in college. Although officially hired me, I was very involved in training to see if I wanted to do this kind of work. I was paired with one of its 'top' selling children's shadow for the day.
We walked around door to door to businesses in retail shopping malls and office buildings to offer our small office equipment. It 's been very hard and very draining. Not only was the constant refusal, but the feeling of being unwelcome everywhere we went was too much to bear.
Then, when I was sitting in the back of this company 'top salesman', I saw a recent check stub of her on the floor. He had a little 'more than $ 600 in the last pay period, a pay period to be one week. This means that the maximum they could hope to be at the top of the pyramid of sales was $ 600. And legitimately, this representative was shadow was pretty good at what he was doing .......
