Info Marketing in the public domain

Want to create additional streams of income? Try Marketing Information in the public domain

Are you having trouble funding your invention?

You need a powerful but inexpensive "give-away" to get people to sign up for your free on-line or in your next newsletter based payment Teleforum?

Need information for your book or an audio tape that you can quickly access and release in a special chapter or section without spending money - or do some work?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you will find the rich resources in the public domain. (See previous article for a detailed discussion on the public domain.) And, because this information is absolutely free to use however you see fit, not only can be accessed at no cost, you can even repackage, the IT market and create a flow of income to help fund your other projects or just to add to your bottom line.

While public domain books are the most common resource used for this type of marketing, do not overlook the music, photographs, government documents, movies, old movies and the like.

To start, here are 5 key marketing strategies to convert the information in the public domain in profitable product information:

1. Identify a Trend, Find "How-To" information on the topic and create an e-book. People are always looking for solutions to problems. Let's say you start reading news articles about the popularity of King Charles Terrier among Baby Boomers. Of course, this is not a surprise for you: you have taken one of these adorable dogs a few months ago. Then you spot a few more of these puppies in your neighborhood. Suddenly, you realize that all these new owners must be wondering how to housebreak their new pets. So, do some 'research in the public domain, to find different resources and build the new e-book, How to turn your King Charles Terrier Into The Perfect Pet: Learn the secrets to my 5 speed, Training home. Of course, to customize your book with stories of how these principles were used to house train your "best friend".

Whatever topic you choose for your product information in the public domain, remember to first define a target market. Then, select a topic from above "as" e-book subjects: money, health, leisure / travel, time saving, the animals, diet, food, health, time management and relationships. Next research the popularity of your choice by checking the keywords of the Internet. Finally, start your marketing campaign.

2. Turn your "How To" E-books in an audio product. In today's busy environment, people who do not make time to read often take time to listen to an audio tape or CD while driving to and from work. If you create an audio book simply by reading and recording that "as is" or modify to fit your work, converting to a tape or CD increases the perceived value and real work. While most e-books sell for between $ 19 and $ 39, audio products are usually priced between $ 69 and $ 99.

3. Create CDs, picture books or videos from Recordings in the public domain. The research and the creation of these types of products may be more complex and a bit 'more risky than the market, so you may want to try this after having successfully produced a few "how to" products. They key to success in this area is the selection of one or two very well defined niche markets. For example, a product films highlighting inventions 20 st century is more likely to appeal to inventors and educators (two large niche markets).

4. Convert booklets and government information in "How to" Products. The vast majority of U.S. government publications and information Web site is public domain. A particularly rich source of "how to" information is available through the Small Business Association (SBA) on such topics as: how to start a small business, how to start a restaurant, how to obtain business financing, how to make your hobby pay; tax advantages of home-based business and how to own and run a bed and breakfast. And, remember, these issues only scratch the surface of public resources available for your use.

5. Give Away a public domain as an incentive. You want someone to subscribe to the e-newsletter? Offer them a free e-book on a topic related to the topic of your newsletter. Someone to purchase your public domain e-books? Offer them a free 5 day e-course provides a few key highlights of the book, then invite them to buy the book to learn more. Not all the way to use public domain material must be connected to the Internet. For example, if you run a lot of public speaking by offering a free product in the public domain after you speak is a great way to attract people to your "back-of-the-room" table where you also have books and audio products for sale .......
