Buy a domain - you need, the extras?
When you decided to buy a domain name, you will be faced with some choices to the point of sale.
This is because most of the registrar will take the opportunity, after starting the process of purchasing (and you already have your credit card out) to try to convince you that you should buy a couple of other things. These other things may include the same domain with different suffixes such as. Info,. Net. Org, private registration, the registration protected, more years on top of the default of one year of hosting service, and so on.
If you actually take any of these offers? Let's look at these options one at a time.
1. Extra domain suffixes
You may feel convinced that he had found a wonderful name for your new site and that, indeed, would be a good idea that you get other versions of the name to protect it. But this is only true if you buy a non-.com name. If you make your site with success, all assume it is a. Com when you type the name into a browser, then you must have version of the name. Have the other version is not vital.
2. Private Registration
This means that your private data such as name, e-mail and physical address are not available to anyone who wants to verify domain ownership. Having a private registration prevents spam e-mail and crank calls, and espionage as someone checking on all the sites you own. For some products or commercial sites, or sites you wish to strongly encourage the private registration is a good idea.
3. Protected Registration
This goes by various names, but it means that it becomes impossible for you to lose control of your domain accidentally. This could happen if you lose the renewal reminders via email, if your credit card has expired, or because they simply forget to renew. In fact, the domain will be 'held' for you, until you renew your registration. Also in this case, if the website becomes a property of value, and is generating income, this type of protection should be taken into account.
4. More than a year of enrollment
Registrars to offer this love, how to get all the money in advance, while the owner's name, must try to guess whether it will even own the name after a year has passed. Even if you are only buying the name as an investment, you may need a long period before being able to sell it. Buy names for building sites, and I know from experience that sometimes a site will not start making money for over a year. I typically register for two years, after that period, I re-evaluate the investment.
There are other offers made to you at the point of buying a domain, but these are the most important. Keep in mind before you click the Checkout button....
